How TranscribeChat works

TranscribeChat turns a WhatsApp chat export into a Word and PDF document in which every voice message is written out where it was sent. This page explains, plainly, what it does and doesn't do.

Did the deposit come through? I need to confirm the dates with the venue.

Yes, it landed this morning. I'll start the layout today and send you the first draft by Friday, with the two options we talked about.

Perfect, Friday works. Then we keep the 14th for the final version.

1. You export the chat from WhatsApp

In WhatsApp, open the chat, tap its name, choose Export chat and Attach media. WhatsApp creates a .zip file with the messages, voice messages and photos.

2. Your browser reads it and shows the price

You choose the .zip on transcribechat.com. Your browser counts the messages and measures each voice message on your device. The price is $5 for the first 30 minutes of voice messages, $0.05 per minute up to 2 hours, $0.02 up to 10 hours and $0.0125 after that.

3. You pay once and receive two files

After a single payment, every voice message is transcribed in the language it was spoken. You receive a link by email to a Word file and a PDF with the transcripts in place, photos inline and the original recordings attached. The link and all files are deleted after 7 days.

A web tool that converts a WhatsApp chat export into a Word and PDF document, with every voice message transcribed in its place in the conversation. It has no subscription and needs no account.

It doesn't summarise, translate or analyse the chat, and it doesn't read the conversation's text with AI. It reproduces the export as WhatsApp produced it.

Voice messages go to a transcription provider (OpenAI, with AssemblyAI as a fallback), which doesn't use them for training. Files are stored encrypted and deleted after 7 days.

A single unreadable voice message is marked in place. If the whole document can't be delivered within 48 hours, the payment is refunded automatically.
